aka "Pete the Wonder Dog"
6/26/95 - 9/26/09
Pete retired from active obedience competition to earn
two Herding titles, making him the first Obedience Trial Champion
(OTCH) Corgi to be eligible for the PWCCA Versatile Corgi and Versatile
Corgi Excellent Awards. He is also the top winning obedience Corgi
in breed history, having earned 1,195 lifetime OTCH points. In
2002 and 2003, with very limited showing, he was ranked in the
top 20 obedience dogs in the country, all breeds, by virtue of
OTCH points earned during those years.
Three years in a row Pete was shown in the AKC Obedience Invitational,
where the top obedience dogs from all over the country assemble
yearly to compete. All three times he placed in the top twenty
after the first day of competition, and at one of these he was
fourth over all at the end of the first grueling day. He also placed
in the extremely competitive Herding Group at this event.

Pete was an exceptional training partner, and we taught each other
a lot over our years working together in obedience, agility and herding. He
did everything I’d ever asked of him, and met or exceeded every
goal I set for us, including earning a perfect score of 200 in
2003, and earning two herding titles at nine years of age.
Outside the obedience ring he was a delight
to live with. He was the undisputed leader of all the dogs
in the house. He informed the puppies when they were getting
too rowdy indoors, and was the first in line for anything interesting,
edible, or just
plain fun. He enjoyed fetching his fuzzy hedgehog, riding in the
car, sleeping on the bed, taking long walks in the country, gobbling
up food of any kind, and playing any game you could think up. He
loved everyone, was fearless without being foolish, was totally non-aggressive,
and had a fabulous sense of humor. What more can I say?
